Sailing the Caribbean on Spring Break - April 2006

Spring Break 2006, we took our first cruise. We joined 4 other couples on a Caribbean cruise. None of us had been on a cruise before so we were very ignorant on what we needed to do. We flew to Tampa, Florida, to board Carnival's Inspiration to Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico.

The ship was very pretty and we were excited being at sea. We had used the sea sick patches, and I think it was a good thing since it was pretty bumpy around Grand Cayman. In fact, it was so rough that we were not able to tender, so we missed that port. That meant we had another day at sea.

Our only port was at Cozumel. We didn't know about booking excursions early, so we tried to find something Pete and I would like to do. Of course, there were different activities available. I had been sick with a cough and didn't want to do the snorkling so I took an island tour with friends, Sue and Raymond. We stopped at some little place off the side of the road where we were shown some jewelry made of black coral. Of course, Sue and I bought a small piece. Back in town we were given some time for shopping before boarding the bus and going back to the ship.

Pete took a bike ride and snorkel. Along the way another rider road right in front of him and he had bike wreck...later we found out he'd probably cracked a rib!

That night, Pete and I walked to a restaurant right on the water. The water and sunset was beautiful. Sometime I'd like to go back to the Caribbean.

This cruise had some good and bad parts. Who would have known that this would be the beginning a many cruises to come. I'll try to see if I can find a picture or two to add to this article. I know there is one somewhere with us dressed for dinner.
